Speech/Language Therapy

Professional Therapies, INC - Speech/Language Therapy

The ability to communicate is essential to learning, working and social interaction. Impaired communication can hurt every aspect of a person’s life. Our speech/language therapists help patients achieve their personal goals. Daniel Webster once said: “If all of my possessions were taken from me with one exception, I would choose to keep the power of communication, for by it I would regain all the rest.”

Our speech/language pathologists are licensed and hold master’s degrees. They evaluate and treat a wide range of speech, language and swallowing disorders in infants, children and adults. Typical communication disorders include:

  • Articulation Disorders – The inability to correctly produce speech sounds may begin in childhood or later in life due to stroke, injury or illness.
  • Language Disorders – Basic communication begins at birth. Difficulty comprehending spoken language or communicating thoughts, feelings and emotions may be a focus of treatment.
  • Aphasia - Following a stroke, brain injury or illness, a person with aphasia may truly be at a loss for words and/or be unable to understand what is said to them.
  • Cognitive Communication Disorders – These make it difficult to think clearly, remember or problem solve and are common after a head injury or stroke.
  • Dysphagia – Difficulty swallowing is often a problem for premature infants and for adults who have suffered illness, surgery, stroke or injury. We also address nutrition and safety issues.
  • Augmentative/Alternative Communication – Advances in technology offer new possibilities for people who cannot speak. Our speech/language pathologists help patients access more effective communication methods.

At Professional Therapies, Inc., we have helped many people with speech/language issues. There’s an excellent chance we can help you, too.
